The Last day of March

Hello. Today is the last day of March! Japan is already in April now. In Japan, the fiscal year starts from April. So, school or job will start in this month.
こんばんは。今日は３月最後の日です。日本では既に４月ですね。アメリカでは年度初めは9月なのですが、日本では、４月なので学校や仕事はどこも今月からでバタバタし始めるのではないでしょうか。

I cannot believe that I am junior!! I feel the day I entered Hiroshima Jogakuin University was just a few days ago. After entering the university, I have met my best friends in GSE major. And also I could have so many friends from other university in Japan and from other countries.
In addition, I could visit several countries, and now, I am in the USA.
もう３年生だなんて正直信じられません。広島女学院大学に入学したのがついこないだのことのように感じます。大学に入学後、GSEメジャーで将来もずっと付き合っていきたいと思える友人に出会うことができ、また国内の他大学、世界にもたくさん友だちを作ることができました。
さらに、いくつかの国にも行くチャンスをいただき、今はこうしてアメリカにいます。

This study abroad will finish in May. I counted the days until I finish this semester, then I noticed that I will conclude the life in this college in just 5 weeks!! I was surprised and I thought it is quicker than the last semester.
この留学生活も５月で終わりです。日にちを数えてみると、あと５週間でこちらでのすべての授業、試験が終わることに気がつき、びっくりしています。なぜだか分かりませんが、この学期は前学期よりもとても短く感じています。

In March, I could write more blogs than the other months. I will try to write more in April and May!! :)
３月は今までの月よりも多くブログを更新することができました。残りの１ヶ月半、更に更新できたらいいなと思っています!! :)

Cherry Blossom Festival

Hi! Today, there was a cherry blossom festival at the Wesleyan College. It started before 5:00pm and lasted until 8:30pm. I was invited by the Japanese class students to join the festival, I cooked some Japanese dishes and joined the picnic!!
こんばんは。今日は、学内で桜祭りがありました。学内とはいっても地域の方たちがたくさん集まる地域のお祭りです。夕方５時前から始まり、８時半頃までありました。私は、日本語クラスの学生さんから一緒にお花見をしようと誘われていたので、日本食を作って持っていきました。

I made Chirashi-zushi(a kind of sushi) and Kara-age(Japanese style fried chicken).
ちらし寿司と唐揚げを作って持っていきました。

I was so happy they liked the dishes!! :D

みんな美味しいと言って食べてくれたのでとても嬉しかったです!!

It was like a party!! XD

   

Probably, the party lasted until the end of the festival, but I needed to leave to take care of horses. At the end of the festival, there were fireworks。So we covered their ears to protect them from the big noise.
きっとお花見はお祭りが終わるまで続いたのでしょうが、私は馬のお世話をするために途中で抜けなければなりませんでした。お祭りの最後に花火があるのですが、馬の耳に耳栓をして大きな音から馬たちを守るためです。

Ross Dress For Less

Hi! I went to shopping with my friend today.
My aim was not shopping, but I found a pretty cardigan, so I bought it :)
今日は友だちと買い物に行ってきました。
出かけた目的は買い物のためではなかったのですが、可愛いカーディガンに出会ったのでゲットしました :)

In America, there are shops which sell clothes cheaper than the original prices. There are famous brand clothes too!! We do not have that kind of shops in Japan, so I love it so much!!
This cardigan was cheaper than half price of the original price!! Isn't it great?? I do think that we should definitely have this kind of shops in Japan too!! :D
アメリカには普通の値段よりも安い値段で服や靴などを売っているお店がいくつかあります。アウトレットではないんですが、いわゆるオフプライスショップというお店です。有名ブランドも普通に安くなっているのでとってもお得です! 日本にはこの手のお店は存在しないので、こういうお店での買い物は最高です!!
このカーディガンも半額以下でした。日本もこういうお店があればいいのにとすごく思います!!

By the way, cherry blossom trees are full bloomed now!! It is so beautiful! :D 

Bad thing for many people is there are much pollen. I talked with my friend today, and she told me that she has a headache because of the pollen.

Today, it is rainy, so I just took some pictures in rainy. But I am invited for a cherry blossom party tomorrow, so I am excited about it and hopefully it will be a good weather tomorrow!!

ところで、アメリカの桜も満開です!! とても綺麗なのですが、花粉がすごく飛んでいるようです。今日友だちと話をしていて、彼女は花粉で頭痛がすると言っていました。私は幸運なことに花粉症ではないので、普通にしていると分からないのですが、今日買い物から帰ってきたら机がなんだか誇りっぽくなっていたのでティッシュで拭いてみると真っ黄色!! きっとあれは花粉なんでしょう!!!!

今日は生憎の雨模様なので雨の中写真を数枚撮っただけなのですが、明日は日本語クラスのみんなとお花見なので天気が良いことを願います!!

Piano Concert

This evening, I went to a piano concert!! My friends played the piano, so I went to see them and enjoyed music.

今日の夕方、音楽メジャーの学生たちのピアノコンサートに行ってきました。私の友だちも演奏したので彼女たちを見に行き、音楽を楽しんできました。

They did really good job, and I loved the concert so much!! All the audiences went up to the stage to listen to music and see the performers closer than usual.
みんなとても素晴らしい演奏でした!! 今回のコンサートでは、お客さんはみんなステージ上にあがり、いつもよりも近い距離でピアノ演奏を聞きました。

Writing Class

Hello!

As I said before, I am taking Writing class now. In this whole semester, I need to write 6 papers. Every time, we read a article for the paper and write some response for it. 

こんにちは。

以前紹介したように、私はライティングのクラスを履修しています。このクラスでは、セメスター中に合計６枚のレポートを書きます。毎回文章を読み、それに対する分析や意見を書きます。

Yesterday, I got a result of the 3rd paper. It was about feminism from movies of Disney princess point of view. Then, I got 98 points!! I'm so happy about it :D

昨日、提出していた３枚目のレポートがかえってきました。ディズニー映画のプリンセスたちから見るフェミニズム（男女平等論）がお題でした。初めて98点という高得点をもらい先生からも褒められ、とても嬉しい一日になりました。

There are some rules to write academic papers. For example, "I" and "you" cannot be used,  using transition wards, and plagiarism. This class is really good for me to practice to write a paper in English.

学術的文章を書く上でのルールがたくさんあります。例えば、第一人称と第二人称は使ってはいけない、文章の変わり目での言葉の使用法、とても厳しい剽窃など。。このクラスではこういった決まりから文法的なことまで英語で文章を書く良い練習ができるのでとても為になっています。

I love Skype!

Hi! In the life at the other country, Skype is really convenient and useful!
I use it to talk with my family since I came here. Since there are only 3 Japanese students now, talking with my family is only the time when I talk in Japanese.
こんにちは。他の国で暮らしていると、スカイプというのは何て便利で役立つものだろうと感じます。私はこちらに来てから家族を話をするときはスカイプを使っています。現在、この大学には日本人が3人しかいないので、親と話すとき＝唯一日本語を話すときです。

When I decided to stay here for one more semester, I used it a lot to communicate with my family. It is really hard to decide it in a short time with just using e-mails. But we can actually talk through Skype. So it is really useful, and I could decide to stay in a few days.
私がここにもう１学期滞在することを決めたときも親と連絡を取るためにたくさん使いました。これがメールだとなかなか大変なのですが、スカイプを使うと実際に話ができるので短い期間の中で決めることができました。

The Best thing is it is free!!
Today, I got a call from my friend who is living in India. It was 2am in India, but she found that I was online and called me!! We can see faces each other too, so we can feel closer than the actual distance!! I have not met her for almost two years, but we are still keeping in touch like this. :)
これの最もいいことは無料だと言うことです。
今日は、インド人の友だちから電話が掛かってきて話しました。インドは朝の２時だったみたいですが、私がオンラインになっていることを見つけてかけてくれました。声だけでなく、お互いの顔も見れるので、実際の距離よりもお互いを近くに感じることができます。彼女とはもう２年程会っていないのですが、こうやって今でも連絡を取り合っています。

 When I went to New Zealand for three months in high school, I did not have any SNS such as Skype. And the way to communicate with my family was only through e-mail. I believe it was good because I could enjoy the lifestyle at there without any "interference" from Japan. But today, these kinds of Internet Services are really big and we knew that how convenient it is.
私が’高校時代に3ヶ月間ニュージーランドに留学したときには、スカイプのようなサービスについて全く知りませんでした。だから親と連絡を取る手段はメールだけでした。家族と連絡をとることがほとんどない生活だったことはとても良かったと今でも思っています。しかし、今はインターネットがとても普及しており、それがどんなに便利かを私たちは知りました。

It may be bad if we become addict to those services, but it is really good service with using good ways!! It makes the world smaller, and I can keep contact with more friends from all over the world!!
中毒になってしまったら厄介ですが、賢く使えば本当に便利で最高なサービスだと思います!! 世界を小さくし、世界中の友だちと繋げてくれています!!

Visited The Biology Major Building

My friend brought me to the biology major building to see her mice. She is in biology and psychology major. We had a brunch together, and she asked me to see her mice. So, I went there with her!!

Since I am not taking any science course classes, it was a first time for me to visit there. There are some animals.

私の友だちが生物学の研究室に連れていってくれました。彼女は、生物学心理学を専攻しており、今日一緒に朝食を食べたときに彼女のネズミを見たいか、と誘われたので一緒にいきました。私は文系で、理系の科目は全く取っていないのでその建物に入ること自体初めてでした。動物がいくつかいたので紹介します。

       

Frogs （カエル）　　　　　　　　　　　　　Fish（海水魚）

There are options in biology, which are mice or aquatic creatures which are frogs and crayfishes. She chose mice and studying about them. There are lots of mice!!

生物学では、ネズミか水中生物（カエルかザリガニ）を選べるらしく、彼女はネズミを研究しています。たくさんネズミがいました!!

Those cages are all for mice.

これらには全てネズミが入っています。

         

I touched a baby mouse! This mouse is 21 days old. Such a cute mouse!! ♡

赤ちゃんネズミに触らせてもらいました。この子は生後21日だそうです。すっごい可愛い!!♡

My friend told me that she needs to kill some mice, and she has killed 35 mice. They can live about 3-4 years, but their longest life is about a year for them in this school . When she began to study about mice, she named all the mice. But she stopped it because it makes more sad when she needs to kill them. It is sad, but it is impossible to keep all of them at campus..
彼女たちはこれらのネズミを何匹か殺さなくてはならないと教えてくれました。彼女はこれまで３５匹殺したそうです。ネズミは普通3年から４年生きられるそうですが、この大学では長くて１年の命だそうです。彼女が研究を始めたときは全てのネズミに名前をつけていたそうですが、殺さなくてはいけないときにとても悲しくなるのでもう番号だけつけているそうです。とても悲しいですが、全てのネズミを飼うことはできない。。そう教えてくれました。

When they kill the mice, they break their neck. It sounds hurt, but she told me that it is more human way to kill them. I thought that it is difficult to study about animals just because they are so cute.
ネズミを殺すとき、首の骨をおって殺すそうです、とても痛そうですが、これが一番人道的な殺し方らしいです。彼女の先生曰く、昔は机に叩き付けて殺したりもしていたとか。。薬を使うと遺伝子に影響してしまうため実験動物には使えないそうです。ただ可愛いという理由だけで動物について研究するというのは難しいんだろうなと思いました。

Riding Lesson -Poco-

Hi! Today, I had a horse riding lesson.
Even though all the horse show finished this semester, we have a community show on campus in April.
今日は、乗馬のレッスンがありました。
もう全ての試合は終わったのですが、大学内では小さな試合が４月にあります。

I ride horses 3 times in a week, that is on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Today, I rode on Poco and jumped!! :D It was a second time since I came here!!
He is kind of lazy horse, so it was pretty hard to make him keep going. And because the weather is fine, it was so hot!! Unfortunately, I do not have any picture of jumping, but it was a good lesson!!

私は週に3回、月曜日と木曜日と金曜日にレッスンを受けています。今日はポコに乗って障害飛越もしました!! アメリカに来て２回目!! ポコはかなりの怠け者なので動かし続けるのがけっこう難しい馬です。さらに今日は天気がとてもよかったためすごく熱かったです。。残念ながら、飛んでいるときの写真はないのですが、とても楽しいレッスンでした。

Spring is definitely coming, and I wore short pants today!

春は確実に近づいてきており、今日は私は短パンで過ごしました！

By the way, I am really obsessed with this movie these days :D 

You know, "Frozen"!! It was released in November in America, and I saw it at cinema in a few months ago. But still I do love it so much!! Finally, this movie was released in Japan too last week!! You may know it, but it got an Academy Award! Of course the movie it self is great, but also the songs are really fantastic!! I strongly recommend you to see it!!

話はがらりと変わりますが、私が最近夢中になっている映画を紹介したいと思います :D

"Frozen"こと”アナと雪の女王"です!タイトルが違いすぎるんですよね（＾＾；）アメリカでは昨年１１月に公開された映画で私が映画館で見てからもう数ヶ月が経過しているのですが、いまだにはまっています!! そしてついに！日本でも先週から映画館で公開されましたね！ご存知かもしれませんが、この映画はアカデミー賞を受賞した作品としてさらに有名になりました。本編はもちろんですが、曲がすっごく良いんです！！ディズニーの関係者でも何でもないのですが、ぜひ映画館で見ることをオススメします！:)

Easter in Supermarket

Easter is one of the big events in America. In a supermarket, there is a corner for seasonal events. Now, there are so many goods and sweets for easter. 

アメリカでは、イースターは大きなお祭りの一つです。近くのスーパーには季節のイベントグッズが並ぶコーナーがあるのですが、今はイースターのための商品やお菓子が並んでいます。

    

We don't cerebrate easter in Japan, so I was not sure about this event. This is not one the specific day, but it is not April 20th in this year. Egg and rabbit are the symbol of Easter, so there are so many products that are related with them. 

日本ではあまり祝われないお祭りなので、私自身よくこのイベントについて知りませんでした。イースターは決められた日にちではなく毎年異なるようで、今年は４月20日です。卵とウサギがシンボルなので、これらに因んだものがたくさん売られています。

 

Many flowers are blooming on the campus recently, and I can feel spring very much!! 

最近、学内の至る所で花が咲いており、とても春を感じることができます!!

今日の夕食にはグラタンを作ってみました!! 子どもの頃から大好きな料理なので自分で作って自分で大満足! 料理の腕が上がってるかな〜と自画自賛です! 笑

Spring Break is almost over and tomorrow is the last day. I will study hard tomorrow!!

春休みも間もなく終わりで、明日が最終日です。明日はしっかり勉強です!!

Chinese food dinner :)

Hello! I had a Chinese food for dinner today!!
Yesterday, my Chinese friends invited me to the dinner :)
They are from Guangzhou, so she made me some Guangzhou dishes.
今日の夕食は中華料理でした!!昨日、中国人の友だちが夕食に誘ってくれて早速実現しました :) 彼女たちは広州出身なので、広州料理を振る舞ってくれました。

       

Our image of Chinese food may be spicy, but they told me that spicy food are more in North part of China. Even we say "Chinese food," there are many types of Chinese food. I ate Guangzhou food for the first time and  they were really tasty!! :) Thank you so much!!

中国料理と聞くとどうしても辛いイメージが浮かんでしまいがちかもしれませんが、彼女たち曰く、辛い食べ物は中国北部の方の料理なんだとか。”中国料理”と一口に言っても本当にたくさんの種類の中国料理があるんです。私にとって広州料理は初めてだったのですが、とても美味しかったです!! :) ありがとう！

While we are eating, we talked about school system, politics, military, festivals in each countries. Of course there are so many differences, and I was surprised some situation of China. For example, there are about 50 students in one class and more that 10 classes in a same grade!! sometimes 15 or 18 classes.. Both men and women need to go to military training when they are in high school and college. I talked about Japanese situation too, and they were surprised with the gap of their image and the real situation. 

食事をしながら、私たちはお互いの国の教育システム、政治、軍事、お祭りなどについて話をしました。もちろん多くの違いがあり、私は中国の様々な面に驚きました。例えば、学校では一クラス５０人程で一学年には１０クラス以上ある。時には１５クラス、１８クラス。。男女両方とも高校と大学時代に軍事訓練に参加しなければならない。など。。

私も日本の様子について話をし、彼女たちはイメージと現実のギャップに驚いていました。

It is fun to share the culture and food each other. At the same time, it is really interesting to talk about our own country and understand the other's situation. Since I am major in Global Studies and interested in International Relations, I love those topics and really interesting!!

お互いの文化を共有したり料理を一緒にするのは本当に楽しいです。また同時に、こうして自国のことについて語り他国の話を聞いて知るというのはとても興味深いです。特に私はグローバルスタディーメジャーに所属しており、国際関係学に特に興味があるので余計にこういった話が好きなのかもしれませんが。

This is desert ♡ and it is good for health!

When I go outside of Japan, I always think that it is really ashamed of having no idea of my own country's culture, history, or politics. I think that I am "a representative of Japan" for the people who meet me in other countries. So, I want to let them know about Japan as much as possible.

日本の外に出るといつも私は自国の文化や歴史、政治等について知らないこと程恥ずかしいことはないとよく思います。私は、他国で出会う人たちにとっては私自身が”日本の代表”になるのだと思っています。だからこそ、できる限り日本について伝えることができたらいいなと考えています。

Japanese Dinner Party with My Chinese Friends

Hi! I heard that Japan had a huge earthquake today. I was really surprised and worried about my family and friends. But they were ok, so I am relieved.
I hope everyone are fine!!
こんにちは。今日、日本で大きな地震があったと聞きました。とても驚き、家族と友だちを心配しましたが、みな無事だったようでとても安心しました。怪我人などがないことを祈っています。

Today, I had a dinner with my Chinese friends, and I made some Japanese food. I cooked Rice, Tonkatsu(flied poak), Sumashijiru(Soy souse soup) and mitarashidango(rice cake). I am glad they liked the dishes!!
今日は、中国人の友人と一緒に夕食を食べ、私は日本食を振る舞いました。白飯、トンカツ、野菜と卵のすまし汁とみたらし団子を作りました。２人ともとても気に入ってくれて嬉しかったです！！

       

Tomorrow, they will cook Chinese food for me!! I am so excited!! :D

明日は二人が私に中国料理を作ってくれるそうです!! すごく楽しみです♪
